GRIESHABER PROMOTED TO GROUP VICE PRESIDENT OF KROGER
CINCINNATI, OH, July 31, 2003 -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today announced that Joseph A. Grieshaber Jr. has been promoted to group vice president of perishables merchandising and procurement. He also will become an officer of the Company.
Mr. Grieshaber, 45, previously served as vice president of merchandising for Kroger's Great Lakes division, based in Columbus, Ohio. He had held that position since 2000. Mr. Grieshaber began his career with Kroger in 1983 as a management trainee in Nashville. He has held a variety of significant management positions with the Company in Tennessee, Texas, Michigan and Ohio, including jobs in meat and seafood merchandising.
