Uplifting Our Communities

Charitable giving is a key component in our work to create communities free from hunger and waste. Through corporate giving and the work of our two foundations – The Kroger Co. Foundation and The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation – we direct more than $300 million annually to partners and causes that align with our mission.

Request a donation

We’re committed to supporting communities in good and challenging times. Every year, we help hundreds of nonprofit organizations support others in need and make our communities better places to live and work.

Community Rewards

Through Kroger Community Rewards, we invite our customers to direct funds to the local charities they care most about.

Building Impactful Careers

Kroger strives to attract, retain and develop leaders and associates who reflect our communities. Because of our unique business model, we unlock economic opportunity for nearly half a million people of various ages and aspirations, from those wanting an entry-level part-time job to graduate-degree specialists across corporate functions.

Creating Hunger-Free Communities

Since introducing Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste plan in 2017, we worked closely with organizations on the front lines of hunger relief, which includes in-kind food and cash donations to provide meals for individuals and families in need.

We have a long-standing commitment to our neighbors.

Our associates help every day by setting aside surplus food in stores for donation to local food banks and agencies through our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Food Rescue program. Collaborations with organizations like Feeding America, No Kid Hungry, the USO, American Red Cross and many others help ensure that everyone has access to nutritious, healthy food.

The Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation

Established in 2018, The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is a public charity that aims to transform our food system through innovation. Annually, it directs grants to organizations who share our mission.

Driving Innovation

The Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation’s signature program is the $10 million Innovation Fund, which supports entrepreneurs and creative thinkers focused on reducing food waste, improving access to healthy food and optimizing supply chain logistics.

We are thrilled to support innovators with new ideas and solutions to some of the world’s most challenging but solvable problems. Some of our grantees even recently introduced upcycled consumer products on our store shelves.

Honoring our Heroes

Kroger’s long-standing collaboration with the USO is our way of saying thank you to our nation’s active-duty service members and their families. With the support of our associates and customers, we remain the largest cumulative donor in the USO’s history.

Disaster Relief

When disaster strikes, the Kroger team is ready to help. Our associates make sure stores are open and stocked with essential food and supplies when needed most. We also direct funds to national partners like the American Red Cross, Feeding America and local partners who provide critical direct relief. Kroger’s Helping Hands Fund also provides emergency financial assistance to our associates in times of need.
